About

Schwartz Gallery is a not-for-profit contemporary art gallery founded in April 2008 by Ismail Erbil and Patrick Michalopoulos. Providing exhibition and  career development opportunities for emerging and mid-career artists from the U.K and abroad, the gallery shows installation, sculpture, video, performance and sound art. Increasingly, the outlook of Schwartz Gallery’s programming is becoming international in focus; a confluence of diverse contemporary artistic and curatorial visions, combined with a commitment to working with London-based practitioners. Schwartz Gallery has also recently embarked on an annual showing of residents’ work, the gallery being housed in a late 19th century industrial building complex, now a community of artists and designers to create networks and provide exhibition opportunities for the local community of artists working in Tower Hamlets Borough. The 4000 square foot gallery space is situated in Hackney Wick, London.

ARTISTS

Schwartz Gallery does not accept unsolicited proposals for exhibitions. However, we are open to viewing individual artist’s work. Please send information by email or post, but do not send original works of art and remember to include an SAE if you would like anything returned. Schwartz Gallery cannot return images or catalogues where an SAE is not provided.

Volunteer Invigilators

Schwartz Gallery is looking for volunteer invigilators for their 2010 programme of exhibitions. We ask for your commitment for the duration of the show and, in return, will provide experience and a reference (on request). We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with an interest in contemporary art. This would be an ideal opportunity for a student or a recent graduate wanting to gain experience working in a gallery setting alongside the small friendly team at Schwartz Gallery. If you would like to apply for this position and are available initially once a week please e-mail info@schwartzgallery.co.uk with a brief covering letter, attached CV (word doc.) and INVIGILATORS 2010 in the subject.
